When Bernanke was elected into his position after Greenspan, it was already clear that there will be some problems with the economy once the housing would bubble burst. Instead of supporting the economy, Bernanke was raising interest rates. Many economists criticize him that he has not started easing the monetary policy sooner to avoid the current downfall. So, shouldn't he give his head for this mess? Perhaps had he started easing interest rates sooner, everything could have been different now.

Bernanke was in a very bad position. Prices of oil were going through the roof, so there were significant inflation pressures. On the other hand, the economy was deteriorating, but nobody could have predicted what happened in the past 2 months. I think media and newspapers are to blaim. They are the idiots that take some information and make a huge news out of it which then influences what masses do!

Yeah, Bernanke was a small guy in this big game. Hedge funds and greedy investment bankers are the ones who should be jailed for this!!
