Title: Short-term loan length
Post by: donaldjerry on May 28, 2010, 07:33:59 am
Is there any common concensus on the definition on the length of a short-term loan?

What period is meant by "short term"?

I am having problems with this categorization in our accounting. Our previous accountant categorized loans differently from what the bank says. He recorded 5 mo loans as short-term, but I see our bank calls them long-term, so I do not know.

The only thing I know about short term loan is that it's due within a set amount of time, depending on the lending institution.

Short-term rates occasionally are higher than long-term rates.
